“MANIRATNAM’S MAGIC IN MENTAL HEARTS”

             “MANI SIR”,the person behind every scene  on the screen.  “o kadhalkanmani”(okkanmani).Undoubtedly it quenched the thirst of many and honestly I am no exception. The story is simply about “living in relationship”, the growing or I say the developed mind set and lifestyle of THARA and AADHI, they fall in love in the course of time  and their dislike towards marriage and commitment makes their relationship stronger. Aadhi and Thara being a game designer and architect their professions clearly portray their characters. GANAPATHY sir and BHAVANI aunty are more a family and are importantly indirectly or directly the reason for the decision at the end.

                “OK KANMANI…,SINAMIKA….which girl says no?? but   KOVAYA MUMBAYA??...though it happens in MUMBAI she belongs to kovai ,who says yes here??. When they stood before Ganapathy sir after deciding to live together, he understood they are no joke  also from Thara’s “MALARGAL KETEN”.he accepted it not because she sung well, because she clearly knows about the path of her life and he came to know that from the clarity in her song. However there is no room to argue whether living together is right or wrong here.                    

                The story as a typical Maniratnam movie kick started with the train and travelled in a super hero bike with two love birds in the metro Mumbai city ,THE BEST 6 MONTHS they ever had with so much understanding with so much love, without any nagging, especially without commitment …..,when only happiness is present nothing accompanies enjoyment made them KING AND QUEEN . Relationship always has pepper in it ,which Thara expressed it soon They get down from the bike to travel in the jeep which lead them to search not only Bhavani aunty but also how important a commitment(salt) is, and they did know. wherever they go whether it is train or  bike or jeep they finally ended up in the land(climax). However  birds cannot be ceased flying…

        The sure energy in the movie and breezy,groovy songs placed varieties of smile and brought a love and enthu for life, about life of those who watched it . Dhulkar with his charm and ablosute innocence took away many flowery hearts ,though it is felt that he is being insensitive about Thara’s feelings in the second half ,she is the one who lead the story then after, however they ended up with a positive and expected climax but when a mind completely accepts in living together without commitments and a licence how come it ended up in a marriage?  

                  Though, The story was so natural , the love was honest and energetic and the CINEMATOGRAPHY (P.C.SREERAM) spoke a lot especially in Ahmedabad scene and the dialogues,

“eppothum ponunga pinnadi dhaan suthuviya?”,
“porandhadhulirunthu”

“Arrange marriage, veetla paatha maaplai”
“chiiiiiiiiiii” ,

the dialogues made the characters very intense and keen and the music no words Rahman sir

“Theera ulavaai ……..paranthu sendru ……sinamikavin…….ethanai sinamikavin ….mental manadhil…….malargalai ketadho??”

It was perfect for those whether 20 or 80 only who accept being metro and not for everyone… 

                   Both THARA and AATHI are deep , intense ,independent, intelligent characters not introduced but brought to the light and waiting to know more about them.Being an ultra modern director and hero of many minds he have given a movie which will be well fitted even after years how ALAIPAYUTHE is a perfect movie even at this date and even in the future. OK KANMANI is a block buster hit even after years…………..thank you MANI sir.
